Beliefs about learners and learning
“Christ the King School is a community where individuals are encouraged to express themselves; where the teachings of Jesus Christ are embraced with enthusiasm and used as guidelines for living together in family and wider society; where love and zest for learning are fostered, where all members feel welcome, respected and safe.”
Christ the King School Vision Statement
At Christ The King we believe in focusing on the whole person, a whole person created in the image and likeness of God. A whole person who brings to their education a diverse background, skills, talents and mindsets.
Brave- Our teachers have high expectations of our learners. Our learners are encouraged to be brave; to participate; to articulate their learning goals and understand where they are in their learning and where they are heading. They receive feedback and can give feedback about theirs and others learning. Students are resilient in the classrooms and in the playground.
Empowered – Our learners are successful, creative and confident, active and informed and empowered to shape and enrich our world. Our teachers use formative strategies and assessments with transparent monitoring of progress in learning and in behaviour. Teachers are empowered by being data driven and understanding the impact of the teaching and learning in the classroom.
Spirited - We educate the whole person in community: created in the image and likeness of God who develops spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally, morally and cognitively. Our learners are filled with the Spirit of God; in making decisions, friendships and modelling appropriate behaviour and values to all in our wider community.
We believe that we are all in this together.
